Family history blog focusing on genealogy and artifacts for several surnames, including: Ackerman, Brooks, Cabot, Haskell, Holbrook, MacKenzie, Merrill and others. My interest was sparked by my grandmother's research and collection of artifacts that were stashed away in an old slant top desk that is now at my Dad's house.

Wordless Wednesday (almost) - Turnverein
My great grandfather Frank Owen Haskell was a member of a turnverein in Portland, Maine. He is the one in the lower right of the photo. I would be interested in hearing from others who might have information on this group.

Okay - gotta admit, that's kind of cool!
ReplyDeleteNot everyone will have a picture like this in their ancestral albums.

I do like this photo. I need to get in to the Maine Historical Society in Portland, Maine because they appear to have some records/information on this group.
